Thankfully there was none of the forecasted thunder for Sunday the 17th, to distract from the peace and tranquillity the strollers were privileged to have on Buckland’s Cider Stroll. Barring a few hundred yards either end of the walk and three road crossings all the rest of the time was spent meandering the lanes fields and woods of local farms. There was some ‘up hill and down dales’ with drinks stops to refresh plus a pasty stop to refuel, and to finish with a BBQ to sit and ponder with everyone the scenery, slips and slides. Yes, ‘twas a bit slippery but very enjoyable.
On route too, the instructions gave a brief history of some of the land they had walked over, plus topics of relevant interest like conservation projects, woodland species, wildlife and birds that can be seen. Local farm and village history was also given. As a result, with the knowledge, walk & refreshments, the mind, body and soul were all catered for in a Sunday afternoon stroll!
