A386 Update from Tuesday 1st February
Following a successful inspection of the upper rockface over the weekend, works have commenced on making the road safe. These works will initially comprise removal of the loose rock which is at immediate risk of falling and will be followed by a re-assessment of the rock face.
The intention is that, after this first phase, one lane of the A386 can be opened under traffic lights. Currently Highways expect the first phase to take up to 10 days, but this is provisional as more problems may be uncovered. A further assessment will be made in the coming days and Devon County Council will provide updates in due course.
