Let’s keep using those face masks inside in crowded areas please. We all know it’s not mandatory, but do we need laws for common sense and courtesy to others? This last week saw the Devon County Council area breach the four-figure total for Covid infections for the first time – 1040. There were 88 in Torridge (a record for us) and 122 in neighbouring North devon. The majority of these infections are in the under 22s, but don’t let us add to the angst.
Alert – the nights are pulling in and hedgehogs are out trawling our roads looking for food. A few bodies on the road have been observed and with a little care we can do better. It’s appreciated that (amazing to quite a few of us) there are some people that simply don’t care about causing wildlife carnage but the saying goes “you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone”. Let’s look after our hedgehogs – they’ll be a long time extinct so please drive slowly through the village and surrounding area and keep your eyes peeled.
Upcoming road closure – most will have seen the signs but just a “heads up” that the top half of Orleigh Hill will be closed on 6th September from 9.00 a.m. – 3.30 p.m. It will be a bit of a pain but hopefully we’ll get a good road surface out of it!
Alan Sutton – Gardeners Club (gardening actually not an essential skill!)- is struggling to get people interested. It would be a shame to see this long standing club close, especially when there’s cash in the coffers to get some activities under the belt. Click here for contact details.
