Many readers will know that snow and ice clearance in rural areas has been “devolved” down from county council to parish council responsibility.This is a small part of what your precept payments cover.
Your snow warden has this morning advised the chair of the parish council that roads between
Thornhillhead Cross and Hoopers Water yesterday afternoon (28th February) have been salted/gritted (the length and breadth of the parish as far as stocks have permitted). The exercise will have been repeated twice again today (1st March) am and pm.
Other roads were also salted/ gritted in the parish in order to meet welfare and commercial needs.
The entire stock of salt/grit has now been used except for the bags which are kept in a building in the village.
