Readers – there will be 8 significant changes to the Highway Code from 29th January.
Having taken a “speed read” through them, there is little doubt in my mind that these have a potentially large impact in this area, and equally unless everyone knows them, the changes themselves may cause accidents as priorities in all areas have shifted.
Remember – ignorance of the law is no excuse if we find ourselves in the wrong, but more importantly, as we’ve managed to survive Covid round here, it would be catastrophic now if we managed to write each other off because we didn’t understand where the rights now are for walkers, cyclists, motorists and horse riders.
We have been advised that ALL road users (as described above) must:-
• Be aware of the Highway Code
• Be considerate to other road users
• Understand their responsibility for the safety of others
