Like many other residents of Buckland Brewer, we are “entertaining” various forms of wildlife in our garden and we have been privileged over a number of years to watch hedgehogs thrive here. They tend to wander from garden to garden – they travel quite a long way if necessary – so don’t be surprised if you find the trademark calling card on your lawn.
After that totally distressing wake-up call from David Attenborough on Sunday night’s TV, this can only be good news.
As autumn progresses then they need to fatten up to get through the winter hibernation (although ours never stopped visiting in the winter months).
