UPDATE: The telephone has now been removed.
You might be aware that the Parish Council decided few months ago to ‘adopt’ the BT phone box by the village green. British Telecomms has been pressing to remove the service for many years and, until now, the Parish Council has resisted. However, the latest statistics showed that the box had only been used a handful of times in the previous 12 months, so it was decided that the time had come to put the box to better use. The telephone service will shortly be discontinued and, at some time in the New Year, it is planned to move the defibrillator from the bus shelter into the box so that it will be slightly more central.
